Certified Surgical Technologist CST - OrthoSports

• Schedule: We have two shifts available:
  • Fultime Monday-Friday, shifts start at 6:00am. You can pick between 8 hours or 10 hours shifts. Call is required. 
  • PRN as needed.

At UAB St. Vincent’s, surgical technologists are vital to our team, ensuring instruments and equipment are ready for efficient, high-quality care. You'll support nationally recognized orthopaedic and sports medicine surgeons across a range of cases, including joint replacements, hand, spine, and foot surgeries. Our team operates in 15+ OR suites, focused on improving patient outcomes and recovery times. This role offers flexible scheduling with either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, plus limited weekend and holiday call.

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.  American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
  degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
