RN - Registered Nurse - L&D Lactation - Part Time - Days

• Department: L&D - Lactation
• Schedule: Part time, days (7a-7p)
• Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor.

• Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding.
• Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assists with their development.
• Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding.
• Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire.
