What You Will Do

The Director of Cardiovascular Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for the
cardiovascular service line, including but not limited to cardiac catheterization labs, electrophysiology,
cardiac imaging, vascular services, cardiac rehabilitation, and outpatient cardiovascular care.
This role serves as the primary operational partner to cardiovascular physician leadership and is
accountable for service line growth, quality outcomes, financial performance, and patient experience. The
Director ensures alignment with organizational strategy while advancing innovative, high-quality, and
cost-effective cardiovascular care across the continuum.

 

1. Develops and executes a comprehensive cardiovascular service line strategy aligned with
organizational goals.
2. Identifies opportunities for program growth, new services (e.g., structural heart, advanced
heart failure, vascular interventions), and market expansion.
3. Partners with physician leadership on recruitment, alignment, and program development
initiatives.
4. Leads outreach and network development to strengthen referral relationships and regional
presence.
5. Oversees day-to-day operations across all cardiovascular service areas to ensure safe,
efficient, and patient-centered care delivery.
6. Standardizes workflows and care models across cardiovascular settings.
7. Implements Clinical Process Reliability (CPR) initiatives to improve throughput, reduce
variation, and enhance outcomes.
8. Ensures appropriate staffing models, productivity standards, and resource utilization.
9. Accountable for clinical quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and accreditation standards
(e.g., Chest Pain Center, Heart Failure, Cath Lab Accreditation).
10. Utilizes national benchmarks (e.g., registries such as NCDR, STS) to drive performance
improvement.
11. Partners with quality and safety teams to reduce complications, readmissions, and length of
stay.
12. Develops and manages operating and capital budgets for the cardiovascular service line.
13. Drives financial performance through volume growth, cost management, and optimization of
reimbursement.
14. Evaluates business cases for new technology, equipment, and program investments.
15. Serves as a key liaison between administration and cardiovascular physicians.
16. Builds strong partnerships with cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and
other stakeholders.
17. Promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance across
multidisciplinary teams.
18. Leads evaluation and implementation of advanced cardiovascular technologies, equipment,
and digital health solutions.
19. Ensures integration of clinical systems, imaging platforms, and data analytics to support
care delivery and outcomes.
20. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting body requirements.
21. Maintains readiness for surveys and certifications related to cardiovascular services.

What You Will Need

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

  • If RN: Current or eligible licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alabama.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart
    Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Advanced cardiovascular certifications (e.g., CCRN, CVRN, RCIS) preferred

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related
    field required
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration (MBA), Nursing, or related
    field preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive healthcare experience, with at least 3 years in leadership/management
    roles within cardiovascular services, cardiac care, or a closely related specialty
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex clinical operations, budgets, and multidisciplinary
    teams
  • Strong knowledge of cardiovascular clinical programs, regulatory requirements, and industry
    benchmarks
