What You Will Do

To provide comprehensive leadership and management of all Supply Chain Operations functions in support of UAB Medicine and Health System activities. To assure alignment with UAB Medicine and Health System initiatives and oversee supply chain operations including receiving, logistics, materials distribution, supply inventory management, and purchase services as needed. This position is responsible for coordinating the deployment of efforts related to operational excellence, utilization, conversions, standardization of supplies, services, and equipment, as well as data-driven decision
making, regulatory compliance (CMS, Joint Commission, AHCA, FDA, etc.) and providing proactive customer solutions.

  • Provides oversight for supply chain daily operations and initiatives.
  • Attracts, retains and develops leaders to ensure continuous operational capability across supply chain.
  • Develops and implements processes that will streamline operations and create savings for the organization.
  • Analyzes operations, service levels, utilization, and expenses using data-driven decision making to support operational excellence and reduce expenses.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance in accordance with all applicable healthcare agencies, standards, and requirements related to supply chain operations.
  • Oversees the effective use of ERP systems and related supply chain technologies to support planning, reporting, analytics, and process improvement.
  • Manages budgets and budgeting activities and presents monthly variances, trends, and recommendations.
  • Partners proactively with internal customers to provide solutions that support service delivery, efficiency, and continuity of operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare supply chain logistics operations and processes
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various groups, ranging from hospital supply chain staff and clinicians to departmental leaders, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to provide Supply Chain leadership, strategic directions, oversight and collaboration of parties across multiple disciplines and facilities to meet goals
  • Strong understanding of clinical/functional departments and hospital operations
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects across multiple facilities
  • Ability to use data to support decisions, identify opportunities, and measure performance.
  • Skilled and knowledgeable in ERP systems and supply chain technology platforms.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to provide proactive, customer-focused solutions in a complex health system environment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain regulatory compliance across applicable healthcare agencies and standards.

What You Will Need

 

Education:

  • Master's degree in Business Management, Healthcare or a related field required

Work Experience:

  • 10 years of supply chain experience required.

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements. 

 

Healthcare supply chain experience preferred.
